Irish Linen
Stores was first established in 1910.
In 1913,
the Norrie family brought the tradition of quality Irish linen and embroideries
to Victoria.
Since 1917,
this unique store has been at its present location, in an attractive
1884 Victoria Italinate design heritage building.
In 1977,
that tradition passed to the Lamb family when Maura FitzGerald Lamb
and Barbara Lamb bought the business. It has been an ideal partnership.
Barbara, a native Victorian, and Maura, born in the west of Ireland,
agreed instantaneously on what responsibilities each would handle.
Little
has changed at Irish Linen over the years. There are still the original
lamp fixtures and glass cases, the same commitment to quality and service,
and the same hand embroideries from the Madeira Islands, Belgium and
Ireland that take months to create. These all contribute to this very
special store.
